Ethiopia Chelbesa Danche

Danche is a washing station in Chelbesa, Gedeb Zone, run by our partners at SNAP Specialty Coffee. About 800 farmers deliver cherry here, working small plots of 2 to 3 hectares at around 2,200 masl. Kurume and Wolisho varieties.

For the natural, whole cherries go into tanks for a 3-day dry ferment, then onto raised beds for 16 to 21 days of sun drying. Turned daily the whole way through.

SNAP has been operating in Ethiopia since 2008 and runs 7 stations across Sidama, Yirgacheffe, and Guji. We've been buying from them since 2024 and plan to keep it that way.
